Job summary

Austin Industries is seeking a Corporate Counsel for its La Porte, Texas headquarters. The role provides legal support to Austin Industrial and may support other Houston-area operations, reporting to the VP/Executive General Counsel.

Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, managing claims, and advising senior management. The ideal candidate has a JD with at least five years of experience, strong communication and strategic thinking skills, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• JD and at least five years of substantial practical experience.
• Licensed Texas attorney eligible to practice law in Texas.
• No public disciplinary history with the State Bar of Texas or any other State Bar.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Occasional day and overnight travel will be required for this role when needed.
• Legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including prime contracts, purchase orders, subcontracts, project agreements and other transaction documents.
• Manage claims and litigation by advising management, directing outside counsel, supporting insurance carriers, and handling discovery.
• Conduct legal due diligence and research for transactions and disputes.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify and address legal and business issues.
• Conduct training on relevant topics for project teams.
• Attend senior management meetings to report on legal matters and review strategies.
• Limited travel within the United States as needed.
• Report to the VP/Executive General Counsel of Austin Industries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
