Job summary

Austin Industries, a leading U.S.-based construction company, seeks an experienced Corporate Counsel at its La Porte, TX location. The role provides legal support to senior management, operations, risk management and other departments across the Austin Industrial group. The successful candidate will draft and negotiate contracts, manage disputes, perform due diligence, and advise leadership on legal risks.

Some travel within the U.S. may be required.

Qualifications

• JD and substantial practical experience required.
• Licensed Texas attorney eligible to practice in Texas.
• No public disciplinary history with the State Bar of Texas or any other State Bar.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Occasional travel within the United States may be required.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including prime contracts, purchase orders, subcontracts, project agreements, consulting agreements and other documents.
• Manage claims and litigation strategy, direct outside counsel, and work with insurance carriers for efficient resolutions.
• Perform legal due diligence and research for transactions and disputes.
• Collaborate with senior management to identify and address legal and business issues.
• Provide training on relevant topics for project teams.
• Attend senior management meetings to report on legal matters.
