Job summary

JMJ Phillip Group seeks an experienced Corporate Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing organization in Miami. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, and the close process, while building scalable processes to support growth.

You will manage a team, drive process improvements, and collaborate with executives on strategic financial decisions to enhance profitability and accuracy across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing monthly and year-end financial close processes.
• Experience leading, supervising, or developing accounting personnel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial leaders.
• Strong attention to detail with understanding broader accounting and business implications.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, revenue, inventory, fixed assets, leases, debt, and other accounting functions.
• Establish close calendars, reconciliation standards, review procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Serve as primary internal resource for complex technical accounting matters.
• Research and implement U.S. GAAP treatments for complex transactions.
• Provide guidance on revenue recognition, leases, acquisitions, asset transactions, reserves, contingencies.
• Prepare accounting position papers and technical memoranda.
• Evaluate new accounting standards and communicate judgments and risks to CFO.
• Strengthen processes supporting job costing, inventory, project accruals, and profitability.
• Improve controls around project setup, cost accumulation, revenue recognition, billing, accruals, closeout.
• Partner with operational leaders to improve financial reporting.
• Identify accounting and process issues affecting profitability.
• Assess processes for control gaps and risks; design scalable policies.
• Lead system implementations and process-improvement initiatives.
• Identify automation opportunities and ensure sustained improvements.
• Oversee cash, AR, AP, inventory, and other working-capital accounts.
• Ensure timely bank reconciliations and cash-related processes.
• Support debt covenant compliance and lender reporting.
