Job summary

Root is seeking a technically strong actuarial leader to join our Corporate Actuarial team as Principal. The role emphasizes capital modeling, ERM, reinsurance, and reserving, with ACAS or FCAS credentials and 6+ years of P&C experience.

You will collaborate with Data Science, Finance, Underwriting, and Claims, contribute to model development and regulatory filings, and mentor junior staff. The position offers competitive salary and broad US remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• ACAS or FCAS designation required.
• 6+ years of actuarial experience in P&C insurance.
• Strong programming skills in R, Python and SQL.
• Ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance internal capital models for risk appetite.
• Support stress testing, ORSA, and economic capital modeling.
• Help implement ERM frameworks and risk registers.
• Analyze reinsurance structures including quota share and XOL.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align methodologies.
• Present technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Contribute to process automation and actuarial tool development using R, Python, SQL, GenAI.
