Job summary

Root is seeking a technically strong actuarial leader to join our Corporate Actuarial team as Principal, providing leadership in capital modeling, ERM, reinsurance, and reserving. The role requires ACAS/FCAS and 6+ years in P&C actuarial work, with strong programming skills in R, Python, SQL and GenAI, and a collaborative mindset.

We support flexible work across the US while maintaining our Columbus, Ohio headquarters.

Qualifications

• ACAS or FCAS designation required.
• 6+ years actuarial experience in P&C with capital modeling, ERM, reinsurance, or reserving.
• Proficiency in R or Python, SQL, and GenAI tools.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance internal capital models to inform risk appetite and financial strategy.
• Contribute to stress testing, ORSA, and economic capital modeling.
• Support ERM framework implementation, risk registers, and related processes.
• Evaluate reinsurance structures and their financial impact.
• Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
