Job summary

WGL seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to support corporate accounting and consolidation for power and gas segments in a dynamic financial environment. You will partner with the Corporate Accounting Manager to implement new transactions, reconcile GL accounts, and enhance processes.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Excel, Access, and PeopleSoft. CPA/MBA preferred. Competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required.
• 5+ Years of related business experience.
• Understanding of GAAP/FASB and SOX compliance and SEC regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve process efficiency.
• Ability to use Windows, Excel (Advanced), and Access to access data and generate reports.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and communicate findings clearly.
• Ability to write and present diverse ideas concisely.

Responsibilities

• Performs day-to-day accounting for non-utility business activities.
• Support the monthly close process and analyze variances.
• Assist in workflow and process improvements.
• Understand contracts to ensure proper accounting for each transaction.
• Participate in monthly due diligence meetings and entity consolidation.
• Assist with stand‑alone audits and consolidated financial statements.
• Record and analyze power & gas revenue and costs, including Renewable Energy Credits.
• Prepare deliverables for financial review meetings and due diligence.
