Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Cook III for the Mexia State Supported Living Center. The role involves advanced food production, shift leadership, and ensuring meals meet diverse dietary needs.

The position requires supervising kitchen staff, following standardized recipes, and maintaining sanitary, safe food service operations. Candidates must meet certifications and be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation.
• Ability to supervise a shift and guide staff.
• Follows recipes and standards for special diets.
• Proficiency in English for communication and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise cooking and food production for regular and modified diets.
• Lead shift, train staff, and ensure adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
• Review menus, portions, and inventory; ensure on-time meal service.
• Oversee use and maintenance of kitchen equipment and reports for repairs or replacements.
