Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Cook III to perform advanced food production tasks and provide shift leadership at the San Angelo State Supported Living Center. This position requires preparing, cooking, portioning, and serving meals for residents on regular or modified diets, adhering to menus and safety standards.

You will supervise kitchen staff, ensure sanitation, monitor inventory, and help maintain reports.

Qualifications

• One year of food preparation work required; healthcare food service preferred.
• Experience guiding and training others is preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and menus and manage diet textures.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift in food preparation, cooking, and serving for residents.
• Ensure proper sanitation, safety, and storage of food and equipment.
• Monitor inventory and supply needs; report maintenance or replacements.
• Provide guidance and training to subordinates on recipes and portion control.
• Possibly drive a delivery vehicle and support canteen operations as needed.
