Chess.com, the world’s leading chess platform, is seeking a Senior Conversion Copywriter to own the words that drive downloads, signups, and Premium upgrades. You’ll craft onboarding copy, monetization prompts, and lifecycle messaging that feels human, not gimmicky.

You’ll partner with product, marketing, design, and growth, iterate via A/B tests, and maintain a warm, clever, honest voice across ads, emails, and in-app messages.

Qualifications

• 6+ years writing conversion-focused copy for consumer products or apps.
• Portfolio showing onboarding flows, upsell screens, lifecycle emails, promo campaigns, and paid ad creative.
• Strong comfort with monetization, growth, and paid acquisition copy.
• Genuine fluency in tone and brand voice across channels.

Responsibilities

• Create onboarding copy that welcomes new players and makes them feel at home.
• Develop upsell flows, paywalls, and feature nudges for Premium upgrades.
• Own promo copy for sales events (Black Friday, holidays, etc.).
• Write lifecycle emails, push notifications, and in-app messages to re-engage players.
• Partner with performance marketing on ad copy and video scripts across platforms.
• Maintain Chess.com’s warm, clever, honest voice across all copy.
