Job summary

Slang AI seeks a Senior Conversation Designer to advance our generative AI voice system. You’ll design natural, intuitive conversations for voice and chat, dig into transcripts for friction points, and work with engineers to define prompts and guardrails.

The role sits in NYC HQ with hybrid work and collaboration across product, engineering, and operations. You’ll lead design standards, test across user research and usability studies, and shape the product’s conversational UX to scale with

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing conversational interfaces (voice, chat, IVR).
• Experience with both traditional NLU and generative AI/LLM tech.
• Experience contributing to design standards and processes.
• Experience evaluating genAI agents and metrics-driven design.
• Proven ability to design and build technically complex flows with multiple branches.
• Experience with parameter extraction, validation logic, and dynamic response generation.
• Strong programming concepts: variables, loops, conditionals.
• Proficiency with integrating conversations with external systems via APIs.
• Proficiency with prototyping tools for conversation design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a natural language ear.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in daily workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end conversational flows for voice and chat with conditional logic and tool calls.
• Build robust error handling and fallback mechanisms.
• Create and test dialogs maintaining a consistent voice, tone, and personality.
