Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Controls Technician in Winchester, VA to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve automation systems across high-speed food manufacturing lines. You will lead updates, commissioning, and continuous improvement while mentoring operators and peers.

The role emphasizes hands-on automation work, documentation in CMMS, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance uptime and safety.

Qualifications

4–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls in manufacturing.
Food manufacturing or high-speed packaging experience preferred.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and troubleshooting capabilities.
Proficiency with RSLogix/FactoryTalk and SCADA/HMI systems.
Strong communication and leadership to train others.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues impacting production, quality, and safety.
Lead updates, testing, and commissioning of automation changes on multiple lines.
Design and implement automation solutions for existing equipment and new lines.
Perform preventive maintenance on automation systems and document work in CMMS.
Mentor operators and maintenance staff on automation best practices.
