Job summary

Fluor Corp is seeking a Contract Controls Systems Engineer in Houston to design, develop, implement and support industrial control and automation systems for large-scale projects.

The role covers design through startup, working with clients, vendors, and construction teams to deliver robust, safe control solutions on energy projects. Strong knowledge of DCS/PLC/SCADA and functional safety is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or related field.
• Experience in industrial control systems within EPC/industrial projects.
• Knowledge of PLC and DCS platforms (Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens, Rockwell, Yokogawa).
• Experience with control system documentation and engineering deliverables.
• Strong understanding of industrial networks and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system architectures, including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and networks.
• Prepare control philosophies, functional descriptions, and control narratives.
• Design control hardware: I/O, panels, marshalling, power distribution, networks.
• Create and review I&C drawings, loop diagrams, and wiring details.
• Support P&IDs, instrument indexes, and I/O lists; sizing and redundancy analyses.
• Develop and review PLC, DCS, and SCADA logic; support HMI design.
• Coordinate FAT/SAT and system integration with safety and packaging.
• Ensure compliance with codes (ISA, IEC, IEEE, NFPA) and client specs.
• Support construction, commissioning, startup, and field issue resolution.
• Interface with clients and vendors; support schedules and cost estimates.
