Job summary
Advantage Technical in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to lead high‑level control projects from concept through commissioning. You will design PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, develop embedded software, and specify I/O and network architectures for energy storage and industrial applications.
You will own system performance and reliability, collaborate across disciplines, and travel occasionally as needed.
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical/Controls Eng or related field.
- 5+ years in controls engineering.
- Experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA and industrial comms.
- Proficiency in C; Python/embedded software a plus.
- BESS, microgrids, or industrial power systems preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, and testing of PLC/HMI/SCADA and control systems.
- Create architecture, specs, and I/O documentation.
- Develop embedded software and microcontroller controls.
- Design industrial networks: Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, CAN, EtherCAT, Profibus.
- Review schematics, BOMs, and docs; support FAT/SAT and commissioning.
- Lead root-cause analysis and reliability improvements.
- Manage revision control for software and firmware.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, field service, customers.
