Job summary

GAS Energy Staffing LLC is seeking a Junior Controls System Designer in Houston, TX for a contract-to-hire engagement. The role focuses on instrumentation and controls design, drafting, and integration with DCS/PLC systems, while ensuring safety classifications and project standards are met.

The designer will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to produce accurate drawings, specifications, and as-built documentation for plant-wide control systems in a fast-paced EPC

Qualifications

4–10 years in instrumentation, controls or design drafting (co-ops count).
Experience with an EPC, system integrator, DCS vendor, or operating chemical plant.
High School Degree or higher.

Responsibilities

Develop instrument indexes and DCS/PLC I/O lists from P&IDs.
Draft instrument loop diagrams, wiring, termination, and cabinet layouts.
Prepare control system architecture and network drawings for DCS/PLC/SIS/historian.
Apply hazardous area classifications to device selection and installation.
Support FAT/SAT, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
Perform field walkdowns and as-built surveys of instrumentation.
Manage drawing revisions and MOC documentation to standards.
