Job summary

Actalent is seeking a senior Controls Engineer in Baltimore, MD, to design, develop, install, and maintain control systems for critical infrastructure. You will work across industrial controls, SCADA, and building automation, shaping solutions for utilities and energy management.

You will lead design efforts, configure PLC/RTU/HMI systems, and collaborate with engineers to deliver high-availability systems across sites with occasional travel. This role is fully onsite in Baltimore.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in electrical/automation engineering; utilities sector preferred.
• 5+ years in solution architecture and real-time grid management (ADMS/DERMS/SCADA/EMS).
• Proficiency with major vendor software for grid analysis and SCADA.
• Experience designing, validating, and commissioning control systems.

Responsibilities

• Originates design documents for small projects and supports large programs.
• Leads programming and configuration for complex automation and SCADA apps.
• Programs and troubleshoots PLCs, RTUs, and HMIs with industry protocols.
• Develops testing, commissioning procedures, and test reports.
• Performs factory and field testing, upgrades, and site surveys.
