Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. seeks an Automation & Controls Engineer to design, program, and support advanced automation in a manufacturing setting.

You’ll lead projects from concept through commissioning, working across PLC/HMI development, robotics, motion control, safety systems, and data acquisition. You will evaluate hardware and software, develop robust documentation, and ensure NEC/NFPA/OSHA/RIA compliant safety implementations while delivering continuous improvements on throughput

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in industrial controls, automation, or electrical engineering in manufacturing.
  • Strong PLC/HMI programming experience (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred).
  • Experience with motion control, servo systems, VFDs, and drives.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial safety standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, RIA).
  • Experience with industrial networks and robotics integration is a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office and engineering tools; on-site role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and debug PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, drives, and DAQ.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning.

Job description

We are seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to design, program, and support advanced industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for evaluating electrical hardware and software solutions and leading projects from concept through commissioning.

You will work across PLC/HMI development, robotics integration, motion control, safety systems, and industrial data acquisition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and debug PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, AC/DC drives, and DAQ systems
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning
  • Evaluate and select electrical hardware/software for production automation needs
  • Design machine safety systems in compliance with NEC, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and RIA standards
  • Develop PLC/HMI applications to improve throughput and eliminate bottlenecks
  • Integrate robotics into automated production systems
  • Design motion control systems including VFDs and servo drives
  • Develop and integrate data acquisition systems with SQL-based reporting tools
  • Perform root cause analysis and support maintenance/production troubleshooting
  • Create technical documentation, specifications, and electrical schematics

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical engineering in manufacturing
  • Strong PLC/HMI programming experience (Allen-Bradley or Siemens preferred)
  • Experience with motion control, servo systems, VFDs, and AC/DC drives
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety systems and standards (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, RIA)
  • Experience with industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
  • Robotics integration experience preferred
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering tools
  • Full-time onsite role in a manufacturing environment
