Generac Power Systems is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to advance new product development and improve legacy systems. You will design, tune, simulate, and integrate control systems for power generation and storage applications, while mentoring peers and supporting cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes PLC programming, model-based design, validation planning, and collaboration with manufacturing to optimize designs for cost and reliability. Travel to Generac facilities may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in controls engineering.
• Experience developing control solutions for power systems and generators.

Responsibilities

• Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
• Specifies precise functional requirements and evaluates design cost, reliability and safety.
• Develops and validates fitness-for-use testing and BOMs.
• Collaborates with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Uses PLC programming to develop instructions for machine operation.
• Supports product development plans including schedule and cost targets.
• Mentors less experienced engineers; travel to other Generac facilities as needed.
