Job summary

Körber is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design control systems, program PLCs, and develop HMIs for material handling systems. You will work with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to ensure system functionality and lead commissioning activities.

You will travel up to 70% per year, mentor controls engineers, and support project scope, schedule, and budget. This is a full-time exempt role with a hybrid schedule in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field is required.
• 7 years of work experience in material handling or similar industry; master’s may offset experience with at least 5 years.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming (GuardLogix) and Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming.
• Experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture and interpreting electrical schematics/HMI programming.
• Experience leading teams on large, complex material handling projects; strong schedule/budget adherence.
• Willingness to travel up to 70% of the year (short-term rotations possible).
• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system designs, deploy and commission PLC code, and create GUIs for material handling systems.
• Test and emulate code functionality before on-site deployment and testing.
• Troubleshoot PLC code and electrical equipment on-site during commissioning and testing.
• Collaborate with Electrical and other engineering disciplines to support control network architecture.
• Support Project Manager to control scope, schedule, and budget; identify changes and mitigate risks.
• Define electrical device requirements and develop documentation of system control functionality.
• Assist with estimates for complex module development and system commissioning.
• Review customer standards/specifications to determine system requirements; mentor junior controls engineers.
