Job summary

Körber is seeking a Controls Engineer II to design and deploy control systems for material handling, program PLCs, and develop HMIs. The role includes validating code, testing on-site, and collaborating with Electrical Engineering to shape control network architecture.

You will contribute to cost estimates, ensure quality through rigorous testing, and travel up to 40% for project needs. Hybrid work option in multiple US offices, including Irving, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field with five years of work experience in material handling or related industry, or 3 years with a Master’s degree.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming (GuardLogix) and Siemens TIA Portal (Starter).
• Experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and strong HMI programming knowledge.
• Proven cross-functional collaboration with project management, engineering, installation crews and external partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% annually.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy control systems, including programming and commissioning PLC code, developing graphical user interfaces, and validating or emulating code before deployment and on-site testing.
• Troubleshoot PLC code and electrical system functionality during on-site commissioning and testing to ensure timely project completion.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to define device requirements, support network architecture design, and review customer standards and documentation to determine system requirements.
• Contribute to cost and resource estimates for complex module development and commissioning activities while monitoring budgets.
• Execute software quality processes through module, subsystem, and system-level test procedures.
• Develop recommendations to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
