Job summary

Körber is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design control systems, deploy PLC code, and build HMI interfaces for material handling projects. You will collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering resources, providing feedback on design requirements and leading commissioning efforts during project phases.

You will mentor controls engineers, test software, and support critical project milestones, while maintaining tight adherence to schedules and budgets in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical/Controls Engineering or related field is required.
  • 7+ years of work experience in material handling or similar industry; master’s may substitute with 5+ years.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming including GuardLogix; Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming including Starter.
  • Experience with Ethernet/IP network architecture.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings and understand HMI programming.
  • Proven experience leading teams of controls engineers on large, complex projects.
  • Experience adhering to project timelines and budgets; background in industrial machine control development and troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% (short rotations possible).

Responsibilities

  • Develop control system designs for material handling systems.
  • Develop, deploy, and commission PLC code and HMIs.
  • Test and emulate code before on-site deployment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC code and electrical equipment during commissioning.
  • Collaborate with electrical and other engineering disciplines on control network architecture.
  • Support Project Manager on scope, schedule, and budget; identify changes and risks.
  • Define electrical device requirements and develop system control documentation.
  • Assist with estimates for complex module development and commissioning.
  • Review customer standards and specifications to determine system requirements.
  • Propose ideas for productivity improvement, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
  • Complete software quality processes through testing procedures.
  • Mentor other controls engineers technically and professionally.
