Job summary
Motherson Group is seeking an Automation Engineer in Sterling Heights to lead PLC programming, robotics integration, and controls optimization in automotive manufacturing. You will design, troubleshoot, and commission automated systems and work closely with maintenance teams to maximize uptime.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years in automotive environments, strong knowledge of RSLogix/Allen-Bradley, and hands-on robotics experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, automation, or mechatronics.
- 5+ years in automotive parts manufacturing environment.
- Experience in JIT production environment preferred.
- Must know RS Logix and Allen Bradley PLC.
- Hands-on experience with industrial robots.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in manufacturing settings.
- Project management in new automation installs preferred.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
Responsibilities
- Develop/program/troubleshoot PLCs and maintain revisions.
- Modify ladder logic and provide support for commissioning and startup.
- Diagnose downtime and maintain controls documentation.
- Program/teach/optimize Fanuc robots and integrate with PLCs.
- Integrate HMI/SCADA, sensors, and safety circuits.
- Support maintenance to improve OEE and reduce downtime.
- Assist with engineering changes and ensure machine-safety compliance.
