Job summary

Motherson SAS, Sterling Heights plant, is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and maintain automated manufacturing systems. The role focuses on PLCs, industrial robots, HMIs, vision systems, and overall plant automation to optimize production and safety.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s in EE/ME/Automation/Mechatronics and 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, with expertise in RSLogix/Allen-Bradley PLCs and Fanuc robot programming. Relocation is not offered.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, Automation, Mechatronics or comparable.
5+ years’ experience in automotive manufacturing environment.
Experience in JIT production environment preferred.
Must know RS Logix and Allen Bradley PLC.

Responsibilities

Develop/program/troubleshoot PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) with revisions/version control.
Modify/optimize ladder logic, structured text, FBD; support commissioning, startup, validation.
Diagnose controls downtime and maintain electrical/controls documentation.
Program/teach/optimize Fanuc robots; improve paths/cycle time; integrate with PLCs and sensors.
Integrate HMI, SCADA, sensors, safety circuits, industrial networks.
Support vision/poka-yoke; provide shift support; reduce downtime via preventive/predictive maintenance.
Support launches/engineering changes; ensure OSHA/machine-safety compliance.
