Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Controls and Automation Engineer to lead the automation standards across our remanufacturing and integration efforts in Kentucky. You will design, implement, and optimize PLC controls, collaborate with vendors, and drive safety and performance improvements.

You will manage internal and external resources, validate equipment, and travel up to 60% to sites. Strong background in robotics and industrial automation is required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ Years of robotics experience in industrial automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with spot/stud welding, material handling, and vision systems.

Responsibilities

• PLC Controls and Automation subject matter expert
• Enforce Rivian standards and best practices
• Hands-on role to conceive, design, build, implement and maintain solutions
• Manage internal and external resources to ensure Rivian best practices
• Coordinate buyoffs and commissioning with integrators and on-site subcontractors
• Perform safety buyoffs of robot and operator safety (DCS, CubicS, MoveSafe, KukaSafe)
• Manage project execution and schedule with integrators, suppliers and programmers
• Continuous improvement of standards
• Develop solutions for processes not covered by Rivian standards
• Travel up to 60% to integrators sites and Rivian factories for validation & commissioning support
