Job summary

Gradian Thermal Solutions, headquartered in Maple Grove, MN, seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead controls architecture for liquid cooling and air movement products. You’ll own end-to-end delivery—from requirements to validation and field support—while ensuring safety, electrical compliance, and robust documentation.

The role demands expert troubleshooting, strong system thinking, and the ability to mentor engineers across projects while aligning with engineering/process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive controls engineering experience (OEM, industrial equipment, HVAC/datacenter infrastructure, or similar).
• Expert ability to design control systems across the full lifecycle with disciplined engineering practices.
• Strong industrial networking background (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet).
• Ability to lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across controls and system interactions.

Responsibilities

• Own the controls technical scope for assigned programs, translating requirements into robust control architectures.
• Define and maintain platform standards for PLC/HMI, I/O and panel design conventions.
• Lead detailed design and implementation: narratives, sequences of operations, and software development.
• Establish verification plans; review test procedures; lead bench, prototype, and system testing.
• Serve as escalation point for troubleshooting and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure designs meet electrical and safety requirements; participate in design reviews and hazard assessments.
• Lead cross-functional technical execution and manage risks through lifecycle.
• Mentor engineers/technicians and influence the controls technology roadmap.
