Responsibilities

• Translate GAAP nuance into guidance the Newport News team can apply.
• Partner with department heads across Newport News, VA to keep budgets honest.
• Track grant funding, restricted accounts, and compliance reporting.
• Reconcile merchant fees against statements that never quite match.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee accounts reconciliation across multiple entities and currencies.
• Track every finance expense back to a source document.
• Turn a sprawling spreadsheet into a controlled, auditable workbook.
