Job summary

Confidential Employer in Northern Virginia is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. This hands-on role requires strong GAAP expertise and meaningful construction/project accounting experience.

The Controller will manage month-end close, prepare accurate financial statements, maintain GL integrity, and deliver consolidated/divisional reporting. Collaboration with operations and external partners is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and 7+ years in accounting.
• Experience in construction or project-based accounting with GAAP.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements for the company and divisions.
• Maintain GL integrity, reconciliations, accruals, and schedules.
• Produce consolidated/divisional reporting for management.
• Establish accounting policies, controls, and close procedures.
• Oversee AP, AR, billing, cash receipts, and disbursements.
• Manage construction/job-cost accounting and WIP reporting.
• Coordinate with operations and project mgmt on variances and risks.
• Support audits, tax, and external reporting with CPA advisors.
