Job summary

iGov, headquartered in Reston, VA, seeks a seasoned Controller to support the CFO in daily accounting activities and financial planning. This in-person role directs payroll, policy implementation, month-end close, and internal controls across the organization.

You will collaborate with Contracts Administration and PMO on government programs, manage budgeting and cash flow, and lead a small team through audits and staffing needs. A CPA and extensive gov contracting experience are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting environment.
• 5+ years of Deltek Costpoint experience is required.
• Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Must have excellent spreadsheet skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Demonstrate excellent prioritizing skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and busy environment
• Expected to work closely with other department groups on problems
• Strong attention to detail
• Assures effective communications are maintained within areas of responsibility
• Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll function and related activities.
• Coordinate with Contracts Administration and PMO on program matters.
• Implement and maintain accounting policies and project code setups.
• Oversee month-end close and financial statement production.
• Enforce internal controls and asset protection.
• Design and maintain records archiving and retention system.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and sales backlog reporting.
• Assist with cash flow management.
• Coordinate external auditor requests.
• Interview and hire staff as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
