Job summary

Kids for the Future seeks a seasoned Controller to oversee all accounting functions from monthly closes to tax compliance in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on Deltek Ajera administration, project accounting, and cash flow management within a fast-growing professional services environment.

You will configure project structures, supervise AR/AP cycles, and partner with CPAs to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely audits. Strong communication and autonomous problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-charge accounting or controller-level experience in AEC or professional services firms.
• Direct hands-on experience with Deltek Ajera.
• Strong knowledge of project-based accounting, WIP, and job costing.
• Payroll processing and statutory tax compliance experience.
• High level of autonomy, problem-solving, communication, and end-to-end back-office management.

Responsibilities

• Lead Deltek Ajera implementation, setup, migration, and optimization.
• Configure project structures, rate tables, billing terms, employee profiles, and workflow approvals.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting processes, including GL, journals, and reconciliations.
• Manage month-end and year-end closes, producing income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Coordinate with CPAs and tax advisors for annual tax prep, audits, and filings.
• Oversee AR/AP cycles, payroll administration, and back-office operations.
