OhioX is seeking a senior controller based in Columbus, Ohio to lead financial strategy, planning and reporting for a portfolio of startup clients. The role collaborates with the President and executive team to shape financial decisions and operations.

Expect responsibility for audits, tax, cost accounting, and cash flow management. Ideal candidates have 10+ years as a controller, 15+ years in accounting, ERP experience, and a hands-on, “roll your sleeves up” work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting function for a portfolio of client startup companies.

• Provide cost accounting and financial analysis; support budgeting.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, financial statements, and tax filings.
• Coordinate preparation of required tax returns and payroll processing.

We are sourcing for our client - a Columbus, Ohio-based advisory and consulting firm that services financial and institutions and insurance companies. They are owned by a boutique private equity firm that is actively pursuing new investment opportunities in lower-middle-market companies. Our client is seeking an exceptional senior-level professional to join their team and play a significant role as a senior controller who would evolve to help identify, and evaluate firm acquisitions, and ultimately leading the financial responsibilities for all of the portfolio companies.

Primary responsibilities will be managing and directing the company’s financial affairs to include financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, company audits, compliance, cost accounting and business planning. Role will collaborate with the President and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations.

General responsibilities include:

• Manage daily accounting function for a portfolio of client startup companies
• Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, billing and accounts receivable on an accrual-basis, in accordance with GAAP
• Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital and company audits
• Provide cost accounting, when required
• Preparation of monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparation of financial statements and reports for Partner review
• Preparation of any required debt amortization schedules, or depreciation schedules
• Payroll processing
• Exercise independent judgment over accounts payable process, including determining available cash to pay bills and process payments to vendors
• Provide financial analysis, as needed
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Coordination of the preparation of required tax returns
