Job summary

COWI is seeking a Senior Contracts Specialist to lead contract management and commercial strategy across major infrastructure projects in the USA and Canada. The role requires coordinating with project teams and Group Legal to manage changes, claims and risk while ensuring timely deliverables.

Ideal candidates will have a BS/MS in engineering, construction, quantity surveying, cost engineering or legal fields, 10+ years in contracts administration, and 5+ years in senior contract management,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering or Legal fields.
• Active professional membership in relevant bodies preferred.
• Over 10 years working for contractor or engineering consultant in contracts administration and commercial management.
• At least 5 years in a senior contract management position; experience with a medium/large design organization is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage deliverables: ensure contract deliverables are within timeframes and advise project team on issues.
• Communicate and manage change: identify deviations, process changes, raise notices, value variations, and handle claims.
• Address risk: input to risk register and ensure profitability impacts are recorded and documented.
• Payments: coordinate with project finance to ensure timely certificates and payment processing; monitor and address delays.
• Training: conduct contract awareness courses for staff and share lessons learned.
• Client collaboration: lead commercial meetings and contribute to monthly progress reporting.
• Internal coordination: work with document control, advise on insurance updates, participate in senior management meetings.
