Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) Texas is hiring a Contractor Safety Program Manager to lead the contractor safety management program and oversee qualification, approval, assurance, and continuous improvement.

You will partner with Operations, Safety and Health, Procurement, Legal, Emergency Management, and contractor leadership to ensure qualified contractors and consistently executed safety programs in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial safety or engineering.
• Seven (7) years of safety experience in industrial safety.

Responsibilities

• Contractor qualification and VERO oversight.
• Lead structured contractor office audits to evaluate leadership commitment and safety governance.
• Conduct field effectiveness reviews to verify programs and risk controls are understood and applied.
• Interview contractor employees in the field to test hazard recognition and stop-work authority.
• Develop and maintain a risk-based contractor audit schedule based on work risk and performance.
