Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Bond Division seeks a Contract Surety Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region, based in Baltimore or Philadelphia. The role involves in-office work and travel within the territory to oversee underwriting, risk selection, and profitability for the branch.

The candidate will analyze financials, review terms of credit, and coach a team while building strong internal and external partnerships. A bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Field of Study: Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
• 7+ years of related experience; progression toward certification such as AFSB, CPA or RPLU is preferred

Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze business reports needed in underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, and financial statements.
• Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, and profitability for the branch office.
• Assess risk quality in compliance with company guidelines.
• Review underwriting of others and make recommendations for extending surety credit including terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively.
• Be highly organized to handle a variety of responsibilities.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Make timely, informed decisions.
