Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Reston, VA seeks a contracts expert to serve as a subject matter expert on Client, Consultant and Trade contractual terms for major projects. You will set up, negotiate, enforce, and educate teams on contract requirements to ensure compliance and risk management.

You will support business development with contract reviews, assist Purchasing, Estimating and Operations with special needs, and ensure documentation and letters meet contract standards.

Qualifications

• Requires at least four years of formal engineering or architectural training.
• At least ten years of building construction experience and/or a legal position focused on construction law.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contract law; excellent communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Set up, negotiate, enforce and educate contracts for a project or region.
• Support Business Development with contract reviews and negotiations.
• Assist Purchasing, Estimating and Operations with special contract needs and exceptions.
• Ensure contracts are followed and documentation is in place.
• Advise Project Manager/Senior PM/Project Executive on staffing for contract compliance.
• Respond to letters within the required timelines and ensure consistent correspondence with contracts.
• Develop tools to track issues and ensure they meet contract requirements.
• Educate, mentor and train staff to improve project team skills and regional capabilities.
