Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced contracts specialist for our Maryland division in Baltimore. The role serves as subject matter expert on Client, Consultant and Trade contractual terms and conditions, steering negotiations and ensuring compliance across projects.

The position requires extensive knowledge of construction contracts, ten or more years in the field, and ability to coordinate with PMs, legal counsel, purchasing and operations.

Qualifications

• Must have formal engineering or architectural training and extensive construction experience, with a focus on contract law.
• Strong ability to review, negotiate and enforce contracts on major projects.
• Experience guiding teams and coordinating with PMs, legal counsel and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set up, negotiate, enforce and educate contracts on a project or region.
• Support business development with contract review and negotiations.
• Assist Purchasing, Estimating and Operations with special contract needs.
• Ensure project documentation aligns with contract requirements.
• Advise Project leadership on staff needs to ensure contract compliance.
• Respond to letters within contract-defined timeframes.
• Develop tools to track contract issues and ensure future usefulness.
• Educate and mentor staff to advance project team skills.
• Attend leadership meetings and communicate progress and issues.
• Identify and propose process improvements to reduce waste.
• Consult with legal counsel as needed.
• Write or review letters with factual support.
