Job summary

AXA XL in Los Angeles, CA seeks an experienced underwriter to tailor high-touch risk solutions for construction clients. You will collaborate with industry experts, manage client queries promptly, and lead underwriting initiatives to support growth and profitability.

This role reports to the Underwriting Manager and emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, client service, and continuous improvement within a dynamic risk management environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive underwriting experience with thorough technical knowledge of underwriting, rating methodologies, forms and business processes.
• Large account experience is a plus.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers and trading partners.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailor-made solutions through risk transfer and service-related products in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Procure new business opportunities through marketing strategies and broker relationships.
• Evaluate risk premium considering costs, reinsurance cessions and administration for profitability.
• Utilize sales and negotiating skills to close new business and renewals.
• Collaborate with other business units to pursue cross-selling opportunities.
• Oversee timely implementation of new and renewal accounts including referrals, quotes, binders and policies.
• Advise and service clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction.
• Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues and share underwriting knowledge.
