Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking a Superintendent to lead daily operations on a Knoxville job site, coordinating scheduling, production, procurement, and labor. You will oversee direct labor and any contracted work, ensuring safe, on-time project completion.

You will collaborate with the Project Manager on look-ahead schedules, meet with subcontractors and clients, and manage budgets and resources while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction management.
• 5+ years of ground-up commercial construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Reads blueprints and understands building codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on schedules, staffing, and equipment.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead plans.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Inform and align supervisors, craft workers, subs, and clients on progress and issues.
• Resolve staffing and labor issues with supervision and labor reps.
• Collaborate with engineers and inspectors to resolve construction problems.
• Inspect ongoing work for conformance to specs and schedules.
• Manage project progress, materials used, and costs; adjust schedules as needed.
• Move personnel between projects to optimize staffing and costs.
• Ensure safety, quality, and company policies are followed; perform other duties as assigned.
