Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Superintendent II to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a defined discipline. You will develop customer relationships through excellent service and drive project success on site.

Requirements include a degree in construction-related field and 8+ years of construction management experience, with travel up to 100% and strong leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple project tasks.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret Mortenson policies and communicate them.
• Active listening and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop and manage project schedules, including look-ahead schedules.
• Develop a site logistics plan and manage Mortenson tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with project partner superintendents and craft teams.
• Lead on-site orientations, pre-construction planning, and site meetings.
• Supervise craft teams; interview, hire, transfer, and terminate as needed.
• Coach and mentor assistants and craft members; manage performance.
• Ensure proper timecard task coding and track progress and productivity.
• Handle craft training and career development discussions.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
• Provide high-level safety, quality, risk, and compliance management.
