Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent I to coordinate site work activities and supervise on-site teams across multiple or large projects. The role requires leadership, problem solving, and strong professionalism in a dynamic construction environment.

The position emphasizes scheduling, safety, collaboration with engineers and project managers, and enforcing Mortenson's safety program. Travel up to 100% is required, and sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Associate degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience.
• Minimum 15 years of construction experience.
• Minimum 10 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with solar or large industrial power projects.
• Proven ability to lead multiple, complex projects.
• Detail-oriented for organizing and managing multiple tasks.
• Understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Microsoft Office intermediate level.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all construction activities and assign tasks.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure materials, equipment and inspections support the project schedule.
• Budget, forecast, and manage craft labor, equipment, materials, and tools.
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability.
• Develop and update project schedules and three-week look-ahead planning.
• Coordinate plans with engineers and clarify discrepancies.
• Develop site utilization plan and establish crew sizes.
• Select formwork systems and equipment.
• Conduct pre-construction planning sessions and site meetings.
• Oversight and supervision of work crews.
• Coach, mentor and train field personnel; lead teams.
• Establish teamwork environment and provide resources and support.
• Provide direction and conduct performance evaluations.
• Participate in hiring decisions and career development.
• Support Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety Program.
• Manage open shop and union issues.
• Maintain relationships with visitors (customers, architects, unions, subcontractors).
• Improve site work and logistics; suggest improvements.
• Additional duties as assigned.
