Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Superintendent II to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities. You will develop and enhance customer relationships through excellent service and oversee safety, quality, risk, and project compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, constructability reviews, and experience managing complex projects across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience.
• Current driver's license.
• Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affimative Action plans.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
• Review construction and contract documents for completeness and constructability.
• Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies.
• Develop and manage project schedules, including three and six-week look-ahead schedules.
• Develop a site logistics plan and manage the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with project partner superintendents.
• Conduct on-site project orientations, pre-construction planning sessions, and project site meetings.
• Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews; interview, hire, transfer, and terminate craft team members as needed.
• Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members.
• Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards, track work progress and craft productivity.
• Handle craft team member training and conduct career development discussions.
• Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and manage performance.
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members.
• Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
