Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Superintendent to coordinate, plan, and supervise assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within a project discipline. The role emphasizes customer service and relationship building, with compensation tied to experience and location.

Two levels are available, Superintendent I and II, with distinct minimum experience and base pay ranges. Mortenson emphasizes growth, safety, and process improvement across projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience
• Current drivers license
• Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
• Detail-oriented and able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
• Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, ability to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule
• Review construction documents for completeness and constructability; coordinate plans with design engineers
• Develop and manage project schedule; site logistics plan; utilize tools and equipment; collaborate with project partner superintendents
• Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings; interview/hire/transfer/dismiss team members
• Ensure proper task coding; lead and track work progress; handle team member training; conduct career development discussions
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Lead by example; offer coaching and feedback; manage performance
• Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; seek process improvements
