Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensure a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site.

The role involves implementing and administering site-specific safety programs, leading OSHA reporting, conducting safety audits, tracking injury data, and collaborating with client safety personnel and unions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or equivalent.
• OR High school diploma with CHST Certification, OSHA 500, and a minimum of 10 years construction experience leading crews and planning work, to include at least six years as a dedicated construction safety professional responsible for managing project safety programs, conducting / reviewing hazard analyses and developing controls, conducting safety training, and planning work activities or equivalent experience in a relevant field
• Minimum of four years of construction safety experience
• Current valid driver's license
• Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs
• Positive and professional attitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies effectively
• Willingness to travel up to 100%

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards
• Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis
• Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
