Job summary

Mortenson Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer I to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites and ensure a safe environment for workers, subcontractors, and visitors on the construction site. Responsibilities include administering safety programs, conducting audits, leading OSHA reporting, and analyzing safety data.

The candidate should have a degree in safety or equivalent, or a high school diploma with CHST/OSHA 500 and extensive construction safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in safety/OSH.
• OSHA 500 or CHST certification preferred in alternate pathway.
• Experience in construction safety program leadership.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety programs at worksites, including site-specific safety activities and training programs
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, and analyze loss control data
• Lead OSHA reporting, monitor subcontractor activities, and review safety submittals
• Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, and maintain knowledge of safety standards
• Serve as a resource for safety issues, attend safety meetings, and assist with major incident analysis
• Work with client safety personnel, union representatives, and insurance risk engineers
• Ensure maintenance and inspection of safety equipment and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
