Job summary

Hunt Companies, Inc. seeks a Senior Accountant to manage accounting, funding administration, and financial reporting for our development and construction portfolio across military housing communities in Norfolk.

You will prepare draw requests, track funding conditions, reconcile budgets, and coordinate with lenders, trustees, and inspectors. This role also oversees job-cost accounting, capitalization vs expense, and close processes with JD Edwards or similar ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably corporate accounting and reporting.
• Experience with JD Edwards Enterprise One and/or other large ERP systems.
• Hands-on experience preparing and administering construction draw packages, including conditional draws and documentation of conditions precedent.
• Proficiency with construction job-cost or real estate accounting platforms (e.g., Sage 300 CRE/Timberline, Yardi, MRI) and familiarity with Procore preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, reviews, and submits monthly construction draw requests with all required lien waivers and certifications.
• Maintains log of funding conditions and clears items on schedule to avoid disbursement delays.
• Reconciles draws against budget, contract sums, and schedules of values; investigates variances.
• Coordinates with lenders, trustees, title companies, and inspectors on draw certification and timing.
• Owns contract sum reconciliation, change order pricing validation, and audit-ready documentation.
• Prepares monthly budget-to-actual reporting and cost-to-complete forecasts.
• Performs month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes for development entities.
