About the Role
Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced MEP Senior Construction Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale, mission-critical data center project in South Bend, Indiana.
This site-based role will provide construction management oversight of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated building systems throughout construction, commissioning, and turnover. The MEP Construction Manager will work closely with project leadership, contractors, design teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to drive safe, high-quality execution while maintaining schedule and project requirements.
The ideal candidate will bring strong field construction experience withindata centers, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, or other technically complex construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site construction management and oversight of MEP systems, ensuring work is executed in accordance with project drawings, specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinate MEP activities across contractors, design teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to identify and resolve field issues.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation to support successful field execution.
- Monitor installation progress and proactively identify schedule, quality, constructability, and coordination risks.
- Lead and participate in MEP coordination meetings, site walks, progress meetings, and contractor discussions.
- Oversee contractor performance and verify work is progressing safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved project requirements.
- Coordinate interfaces between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, life safety, and other critical building systems.
- Support change management by identifying scope changes, field conditions, and potential schedule or cost impacts.
- Partner with project controls and construction leadership to monitor milestones, look-ahead schedules, constraints, and recovery plans.
- Support commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), punch-list activities, system turnover, and project closeout.
- Maintain clear communication and documentation of field issues, decisions, risks, and action items.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and proactive problem-solving throughout project execution.
Qualifications and Education
- 10+ years of construction management experience, with significant experience overseeing MEP scopes on large or technically complex projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and critical building systems.
- Experience with data center or mission-critical construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating multiple MEP trades in an active construction environment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting commissioning, system turnover, and construction closeout.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, quality control, field coordination, and schedule management.
- Experience with construction management platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate across contractors, designers, vendors, and project leadership.
- Ability to work full-time in a fast-paced, site-based environment in South Bend, IN.
