About the Role
Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex construction projects. This position will provide dedicated project engineering support to the Construction Manager and broader project team, serving as a key coordination point between design documentation, contractor and vendor submittals, and field execution.
The Project Engineer will focus on technical coordination, document management, RFIs, submittals, change tracking, commissioning readiness, and project closeout. This is a highly collaborative, site-based role requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and elevate technical or documentation issues before they impact construction.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate project drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and field documentation to support construction execution.
- Manage and maintain RFI, submittal, change, action-item, and decision logs, ensuring items are tracked through resolution.
- Identify conflicts, discrepancies, or missing information across drawings, specifications, submittals, and field conditions and elevate issues as needed.
- Maintain current project documentation, including drawings, specifications, addenda, IFC packages, meeting minutes, and document control records.
- Support the Construction Manager with change management, schedule updates, contractor coordination, and tracking potential cost or schedule impacts.
- Coordinate contractor and vendor documentation, including submittals, O&M manuals, warranties, and required turnover documentation.
- Support commissioning and IST readiness, including prerequisite tracking, punch-list items, testing documentation, and system turnover packages.
- Prepare meeting minutes and maintain clear communication of project actions, decisions, responsibilities, and outstanding items.
- Support project closeout by coordinating as-built documentation, test reports, warranties, O&M manuals, and final turnover packages.
- Work closely with construction managers, contractors, design teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve issues affecting project delivery.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project engineering experience supporting construction projects.
- Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, or large-scale commercial construction preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and construction coordination.
- Proficiency with construction document management platforms such as Procore, Aconex, SharePoint, or similar systems.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with design-build and design-bid-build project delivery methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear meeting minutes, reports, logs, and project correspondence.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and concurrent workstreams.
- Working knowledge of commissioning documentation, turnover packages, and construction closeout requirements preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, site-based construction environment.
