Job summary

State Employees' Credit Union in Wake Forest, NC seeks a Senior Construction Lending Specialist to serve as the subject matter expert for residential construction lending, evaluating complex loan requests and guiding underwriting decisions.

You will partner with underwriting, loan closing, servicing, construction administration, and branches to ensure compliant, efficient administration of construction lending programs while delivering excellent member experience.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree, CCUE Certification, or NC-CTP via NC-CTP.
• Minimum 5 years of mortgage lending experience including at least 2 years of construction lending.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction lending practices, project risk assessment, mortgage regulations, and loan administration.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with active listening.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex residential construction projects and assess risks to support underwriting decisions.
• Perform builder due diligence on financial strength, licensing, insurance, and eligibility.
• Answer questions about the construction loan program and train staff on policies and procedures.
• Oversee draw approvals, funding, inspection review, servicing setup, and issue resolution.
• Lead process improvements and mentor junior staff.
