About the Role

Our client, a major player in the mining sector, is looking for a highly experienced and safety-conscious Senior Construction Foreman to oversee critical infrastructure projects at their operations near Welkom. The Senior Construction Foreman will lead a team of skilled tradespeople and laborers, directing their work in the construction and maintenance of mine infrastructure, including surface facilities, access roads, and structural components. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise daily construction activities for mining infrastructure projects in Welkom.
• Ensure all construction work complies with project specifications, drawings, and relevant standards.
• Enforce strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a zero-harm workplace.
• Manage and coordinate the work of skilled trades, general laborers, and subcontractors.
• Inspect work performed by the team to ensure quality and identify any defects or issues.

• Contribute to the planning and scheduling of construction tasks and resource allocation.
• Maintain accurate daily records of work performed, materials used, and safety observations.
• Collaborate with mine engineers, supervisors, and other site personnel.
• Ensure site organization and cleanliness, managing material laydown areas effectively.

Requirements

• A recognized trade qualification (e.g., Boilermaker, Welder, Carpenter) is essential.
• A minimum of 7 years of proven experience as a Construction Foreman, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Extensive knowledge of construction techniques, methods, and materials used in infrastructure development.
• Strong understanding and commitment to health and safety in a construction and mining environment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team motivation skills.
• Experience in managing teams of varying sizes and skill levels.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Experience working on mine sites near Welkom or in the Free State province is highly desirable.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
