Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer for the Grand Rapids area. You will oversee highway and bridge reconstruction projects, manage budgets and compliance, and lead a Civil Field team from pre-bid to closure. The role requires a PE license in Michigan and 10+ years in MDOT/highway construction.

You will supervise engineers and technicians, coordinate with local agencies, and drive project success through strong leadership and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan required.
• 10+ years in MDOT, heavy highway, or bridge construction.
• Experience as Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Oversee highway and bridge rehabilitation projects from pre-construction through close-out.
• Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and specifications.
• Lead project meetings and prepare minutes for multiple projects.
• Supervise engineers and technicians in field and office settings.
• Manage budgets, pay estimates, modifications, and documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior staff.
