Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Bridge Engineer to join our Michigan Transportation team. Based in Grand Rapids, Lansing, or Farmington Hills, you will support bridge design, analysis, plan preparation, inspections, load rating, and related consulting services for MDOT and local municipalities.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, develop budgets and schedules, and apply design software to deliver high-quality transportation projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering.
• 0–4+ years of bridge engineering experience preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training certification desired; PE license is a plus.
• Bridge design experience with knowledge of AASHTO LRFD is a plus.
• MDOT bridge standards and design manuals knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads/MicroStation is preferred.
• Familiarity with LEAP Bridge and related software helpful.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review and assist in bridge design, analysis, calculations, and plan preparation.
• Support fieldwork related to bridge safety inspections and load rating.
• Assist in developing project budgets, schedules, reports, and technical documentation.
• Apply civil engineering principles and design software to transportation projects.
• Collaborate with Fishbeck staff across disciplines to deliver bridge design services for MDOT and municipalities.
