Job description

  • Coordinate work activities of employees, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical tasks and field work activities
  • Perform technical assignments and use analytical techniques to solve problems
  • Plan and organize outage and project work activities
  • Make decisions and contribute to team decision-making and consensus building
  • Monitor labor relations and maintain productive contractor relationships
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
  • Monitor Work and Asset Management and ensure work follows established policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Solve moderately complex and highly complex problems, including unique electric utility industry problems
  • Develop and present reports to customers
  • Initiate, lead, and facilitate meetings
  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimates
  • Participate in contractor and AEP meetings covering schedules, safety, operations, and maintenance
  • Monitor work against schedules and recommend necessary actions
  • Develop and implement plans addressing scheduling, resources, costs, and controls
  • Lead plant, regional, outage, project, and organizational-unit activities
  • Lead project development in specialized areas
  • Partner with employees and management to identify business, performance, and learning needs
Requirements
  • Construction Coordinator: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; OR Associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment; OR high school diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in those areas
  • Construction Coordinator Senior: Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR Associate's technical degree and 6 years of relevant experience; OR high school diploma or GED and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Construction Coordinator Principal: Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR Associate's technical degree and 10 years of relevant experience; OR high school diploma or GED and 12 years of relevant experience
  • Typically requires 3, 6, or 10+ years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge, depending on level
  • Must possess a professional or trade certification such as a CCMP, CETa, IQCP, PMP, or equivalent prior to progression into the Principal level
  • Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as required
  • Travel requirements expected >50% of the time; extensive travel and possible relocation required
  • Physical demand level: Sedentary
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of AEP's general terms and conditions and ability to interpret and administer contracts
  • Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials
  • Position may require extended hours to meet project/outage requirements and schedules
